Testimony from Outside an Abortion Clinic from Mrs. Swannack
Times of prayer at the clinic are simultaneously beautiful and heart wrenching. Every month we find ourselves moved to tears for the unborn lives lost and filled with compassion for the bereft mothers walking through the clinic doors. It is incredibly difficult to watch women enter this place of death, knowing that they will leave childless and broken. Despair and hopelessness plague the women entering the clinic, and unfortunately, that despair and hopeless is accompanied by trauma when they walk out having witnessed the murder of their child.
We continue to pray outside of the clinic month after month because we believe in the power of prayer. There are months when we witness only sorrow and death, and yet we persevere in prayer. These months of desolation make the experience I'm about to share with you even sweeter.
In June, God allowed us to witness first-hand the fruits of our prayer. When we arrived at the clinic, the teens and I prayed the rosary, and we watched woman after woman enter the clinic. Taking the defeat of watching these women enter the clinic to the Lord, I prayed, "What do you want me to do Lord?"
The Lord said, "sing". Specifically, He continued to say to sing the song Amazing Grace.
Just then, young woman began to walk up the clinic steps with a man accompanying her. She looked despondent and was in tears. And the Lord repeated, "Sing, this is her. Sing!"
So, we sang Amazing Grace. Quickly, the different prayer teams around us began to sing. The pastor, who had been preaching, stopped speaking and began to sing.
Then, miraculously, the woman stopped walking and sat down. She got to the door of the clinic and just stopped. We sang for what felt like at least 10 minutes before we saw any movement.
Eventually, this beautiful mother with a beautiful life inside of her walked down the long steps that were leading to the clinic. With a huge smile on her face, she left the clinic, got in her car, drove down the driveway, and honked at the sign that read, "Honk twice if you decided to choose life today!"
We all began to cry, and for the first time since we've been praying at this clinic, we cried tears of joy and tears of thanksgiving. We sang How Great Thou Art to the Lord for this blessing, and as we sang this, another woman walked out of the clinic, smile on her face because she also decided to reject death and choose life for her child.
There's no way to know precisely what made these women change their minds. Was it the singing? Was it something else? We can't say for sure. That said, we believe that the Lord revealed songs that these women needed to hear, and that these songs had an influence on their decisions to choose life. We believe that the Lord spoke to their hearts through the melodies and lyrics.
By simply saying "yes" to the Lord and showing up, He was able to do amazing things.
We'd love for you to join us at the clinic on Saturday. The Lord will undoubtedly work through you, your presence, and your prayer. Spend time in silence with the Lord this week, asking Him how He would like you to pray for and be present to the mothers and the unborn on Saturday.
